Traffic Classification

Traffic Count and Classification Programs

ETC Institute has conducted traffic data collection studies for over two decades. Our experience spans across a large range of surveys, projects, and contracts where traffic data collection is a large component.  These include:

  • Workplace surveys
  • Commercial vehicle surveys
  • External station surveys
  • Air quality surveys
  • Volume, classification, & speed collection
  • Gap studies
  • Turning movement counts
  • Origin-Destination surveys
  • Traffic count analysis and processing
  • Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR)
  • Traffic detouring analysis
  • Parking data collection
  • Site/Business traffic assessment & analysis
  • And others…

In addition to our Traffic Count and Classification Programs, our unique experience spans across a large range of survey types where count and classification data is a large component.  These projects include, but are not limited to, workplace and establishment, commercial vehicle, external station, on-board, air quality, community, parks & rec, and count and classification specific studies. Since 1982, ETC Institute has completed research projects for organizations in 49 states and across the globe.  During the past eight years, ETC Institute has administered surveys in more than 1,000 cities and counties across the United States.

ETC Institute has conducted research for more major U.S. cities than any other firm. Some of the large communities where ETC Institute has conducted surveys include:

· Atlanta, Georgia · Louisville, Kentucky
· Austin, Texas · Mesa, Arizona
· Broward County, Florida · Miami-Dade County, Florida

RECENT TRAFFIC COUNT AND CLASSIFICATION PROGRAMS

  1. Traffic Count and Classification Program in the Dallas/ Fort Worth Region for the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) that involved the successful collection of count and classification traffic data of 554 sites via ATR and video. These sites included main arterials, collectors, frontage roads, and major freeways.
  2. Traffic Count and Classification Program in the El Paso Texas study area for the El Paso MPO that involved the successful collection of count and classification traffic data of over 70 sites via ATR and video. These sites included main arterials, collectors, frontage roads, exit ramps, intersections and major freeways.
  3. External Station Survey in the Metrolina Region (Charlotte, NC) for the North Carolina Department of Transportation that involved the successful collection of video count and classification traffic data at over 50 locations.

Other Related Projects

The COUNTcam 2 Video Recording System

Technologically Advanced. App controlled recording means no camera cables or portable monitors.  Our clients can connect to and view our cameras!

Long Recording Time. With the available battery booster pack, we can deploy the COUNTcam 2 for an indefinite amount of time. Whatever your study needs, we have it covered.

MPG4 File Format. A smoother video picture when watched at fast speeds means faster data processing times.

Smaller Files. Smaller files means more internal memory for data. Now capable of recording for hundreds of hours at a time.

*SERVICE UPDATE* Currently you have to be within a cameras transmitted signal to connect to it with your device. The Traffic Data Collection Team has found a way to allow you to connect from anywhere, anytime and testing is underway! Will you be the first to use this cutting edge feature?!

The wayCOUNT Traffic Counting System

Compact. Small size is easy to transport and store. Carry and deploy more at a time!

Versatile Data. Accurate timestamped 2-channel data can be used for volume, classification, and speed studies. When tested by the Traffic Data Collection Team, the wayCOUNT performed as well as, or better, than the top pneumatic tube devices on the market today.

Cutting Edge Software. Quick report generation via cloud based WayCount.com. With several types of data bins, we get more out of your project’s data, faster!

Technologically Advanced. Wireless data retrieval and upload. Cloud based data storage. No download cables or chargers. Data is uploaded the instant a study site is completed.
